Black Night of 3rd November

Last year on 3rd November, 7pm a dictator while saving his seat brought the country to the brink of destruction, and with his dictatorial power applied marshal-law in his own government, which was dubbed as emergency as some and mini marshal law by others, as not every institution was affected by it, only those which had no value; the judiciary of that time, in which people of Pakistan felt pride for first time in history of Pakistan and the media which was seriously concerned about nation. It was today when all this happened. Such brave judiciary, whose suspension made even the strongest of people cry with sorrow. Those poor people who didn’t even had money to reach the court, when wrote letter to C. J. Ch. Iftikhar in their broken language, he brought those torn papers to court and gave them relief and punished those responsible, no matter how high-up they were. Those poor people didn’t have as much tears in their eyes for their sorrow as they had for their Messiah’s dismissal. Small hope that has started shining in so many hearts was put out. The dictator at that time proved that only jungle’s law will prevail here, only those with power would be heard here and everyone else will bow to them.
At that time who had the power to stand up to the dictator other than our C. J, our current leaders were waiting for some miracle, looking loophole for some way to get into government. To gain their motives they were going to cross every line, but even after all this they neither got any miracle nor any secret loophole.
What we are seeing today, it is not a result of any deal but it’s a result of a huge movement, fought by lawyers who forced the dictator on his knees. We can’t find any example of the way these lawyers fought selflessly for this movement.
In our whole history, what have our politicians given to this country, except deceit. After such a long movement, when this government was given to our politicians they first of all, forgave all crimes of the dictator and forgot all the crimes of dictatorship. They, themselves were in other countries with every blessing of life, all those cruelty was faced by people living here, whose movement they had gotten the government in first place. These politicians were even frightened of lost dictator, the dictator who couldn’t frighten those lawyers even when he was in power, and now when he was completely powerless, and had no choice but to surrender and we are hoping that these coward politicians will stand up to America who were even afraid of a dead man.
I will say that again, what do we need a democracy for if it is going to make same decisions? Our President Zardari made so many accords but never completed them, how can investor come to a country who has a President like this, who will they be satisfied with their policies. Zardari asks C. J to come in politics, has he forgotten that they didn’t had enough power to send the dictator home, it was the result of the movement by those who came out, holding flags and getting their names in the list of shaheeds, and has he forgotten the words of Mohtarma Be Nazeer, which he said standing front of C. J’s house? How selfish our politicians are, they don’t learn anything and history keeps repeating itself. Someone should ask Zardari what is present right now, which can stop any dictator from taking over? Until these politicians forget their personal gain, this democracy can never work.
How can any investor trust on Zardari, when they know that when our President Zardari himself, has all his investment in other counties, why would they be concerned for the betterment of this country when our own president is not concerned.
We lack many things in our country, but we lack trust the most. Here no one can trust anyone else on any level. We should stop thinking about our personal gain and start thinking for the gain of the country and the search for the free judiciary should not be blocked just from the fear of having their accords (NRO) revoked. After all, some one has to start it, and everyone has their personal motives, for how long it will keep happening.
