Nation Recalls Sad 27 Dec.
Guest Post by Shaharyar Mughal
I just wonder about the matter of Mohterma Benaizir Bhutto, how I can forget the time when she was assassinated, it was really a sad time of my life (and I know about all the Pakistanis were feeling so sad and depressed). How can I forget the time when the news was break that she is injured in a suicide attack, suddenly the news got changes and death of Mohtarma was on the screen as shocking news of Pakistan’s history…?
I am not sure how hopeless I was at that time, but I can see the faces all around at the place of attack as well as the place of her body was (in hospital), then I saw Mr. Nawaz Sharif on the screen and he was in hospital to condemn the attack and show the solidarity with Mohtarma and PPP.
How can I forget the time when people were weeping and asking Mr. Nawaz Sharif to do something for them, they were shouting again and again that please do found the killers and then Mr. Nawaz came forward to give them support, he announced that “I will never forgive the attackers”, he added “I will find the truth and people who are responsible for this great mishap”.
How can I forget the hope people found after this message of Mian Sahib.
This is time to recall that because of only one reason. It was sad 27 Dec, and nation was in sorrow, if we see the history of Pakistan then we find that there were only 2 leaders there, who were representing the nation at that time.
The time she was assassinated we can say that there was only one left to meet the wishes of nation, and it was obviously Mr. Nawaz Sharif. I was just thinking if he may lead the nation after this and sort out the matters accordingly.
He was one who shout against the ‘jama-e hafsa’ and Lal Masjid issue, nation want to give full support to this man, but then Mr. Zardari came to scene and naturally that people went to him because he was the one very close to ‘Benazir Bhutto’, he was the husband, he announced the case is clear and of murdered by the Government involved people, he declared that Government should let UN investigate the case, he also added that if he come to lead then he will investigate it widely and sort out the issue.
Naturally people got impressed and they could even show more confidence on him as per his wordings, people thought as he is the husband and he may really investigate the great lose of nation and sort out the issue gracefully.
Nation votes, votes to PPPP, they came to lead, lead the nation, but unfortunately all the promises they did with nation they forgot, they were in power and may be that’s why they didn’t want to disturb their selves or it was something else, Did they not had any courage? Was there some really serious International personality involved? Or is it the matter we should not discuss with nation? These are all the questions we get called in mind.
I am not the only person who is hopeless about this and other major issues, if we take a look at the major surveys conduct by the international agencies we may come to know the popularity of PPP and Zardari is getting down.
Now the people are again come to know the basics of leaders, they want to show trust on Mr. Nawaz Sharif as it was the one who promise the nation to investigate the issue gracefully.
Nation even can give full confidence to him.
How can we forget the phone calls from the white house? How can we forget the statements of Indian Leaders on the month of April and May 1998?
I think Mr. Nawaz Sharif must come forward and announce it as his policy statement that he will investigate the issue as its pure matter if he gets the seat.
I am not sure if the nation can forget a great woman, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, how can we forgive those who killed her.
I wish and I am hopeful that one day we find the truth, and this case will never be the one like the cases of Shaheed Liaquat Ali khan and Gen. Zia-Ul-Haq.

WAS BB REALLY A LEADER? AND HONEST ONE???
Yesterday, it was Benazir Bhutto’s first death anniversary. And almost a month ago, she was awarded with Human Rights award as well. It’s the time, when she has been praised a lot, because it’s in the AIR. but I would rather prefer to disagree with all the “Nice Stuff” posted on different blogs, in News Paper editorials, and shown in TV Channels about Late BB. No doubt, being a Muslim, we believe that a departed soul must be remembered in a nice and respectful manner. And I’ll try to do the same, yet I’ve right to raise my voice on a person who was a Public Figure.
I fail to understand what human rights BB fought for. Throughout her life, she kept on following the guidelines provided by the American authorities. If she really cared for the Human Rights, I wonder can anyone point out any statement in which she categorically and vehemently showed her disliking regarding huge civilian casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan? She fought for only those Human and Fundamental Rights, which suited America and the western world. The Muslims had neither Human nor fundamental rights in her opinion. She was harsh at Taliban, who forced the Women to wear veil, but she was ever so soft on the French authorities when they forced the Muslim ladies to quit wearing veil. Why so double standards? And democracy BB fought for? She was not fighting for democracy, rather just for her own seat of Prime Minister. A seat which won her the Palace in UK, huge coffers based in Switzerland gained through kickbacks and commissions. She was a PAKISTANI leader who had all her education abroad and who had all her PAKISTANI children studying abroad. She was the leader who could not withstand US pressure and admitted to Hamid Mir that CJP Justice Iftikhar could not be restored because US didn’t want it. She was the one who let her husband plunder with Paki economy. We still remember BB as a person who made us pay heavily for electricity by purchasing very expensive electricity from IPP’s. She was the leader who filled our High Courts with corrupt judges merely because they were PPP Jiyalas. She was the one who strengthened our arch rival India by giving India the list of Sikh freedom fighters. And if, now India is coming severe on us, BB has her part in it. At a time, when the whole nation was united in fighting the dictator Gen (r) Musharraf (I believed he retired on October 12th 1999), she was busy in striking a deal with him. Had she stood firm to her grounds there was every likelihood that 3rd November 2007 would never happen. But for her saving her skin from the corruption charges, through NRO, was more important than this poor nation. The list of mistakes, plundering with the State exchequer, blunders, letting her husband lay his corrupt hands on national coffers, kickbacks and commissions, mismanagement, attitude towards Judiciary and supporting & raising the corrupt Jiyala culture goes on and on and on.
May her soul rest in peace, but she didn’t deserve Human Rights award. She did nothing for poor masses of Pakistan except speaking on international forums in brilliant english full of rhetorics. But it’s also not a plus point that Pakistani prime minister could’nt speak her own language properly. Yet I wish her soul rest in peace and her policies be buried deep too.

There is no question we can rise on the personality or character of any leader like BENZIR. It can be personal biases, likes and dislike. The matter of the fact that one leader who is being disliked by one person may be much more liked by another. we should analyze the love and affection that any follower possessed about its leader. Benzir Bhutto (late) was a great leader of its party which is a huge party in Pakistan holding a strong position. Its wrong to after Benzir’s death we are discussing and argumenting about her charater. we should looked upon the people who are involved in her death so that after this no other leader should became a victim of being murdered. we should bring them infron of the people. the people who are involved in creating her death plan are from foreign as well as our local country.

Dear Asad,
You are talking about bringing her killers to justice? Day dreaming i guess
We’v let loose the violator of constitution. The Mega Corruption of Politicians and bureaucracy has been condoned through NRO. The rich and the powerful make a mockery of every single law that comes their way, and yet you are assuming her murderers can ever be nabbed? Idealy it should be so, but practically, we all have seen what progress this PPP led Government has shown so far. Zero x Zero=Zero.
I don’t know whether you are a fan of PPP or what, but for some reasons I’ve seen the PPP Jiyala culture up and close. And believe me, it’s filthy corrupt. No doubt, PPP is the only mainstream political party which caters the needs of its workers. But alas, it’s usually not by lawful means. Mr. Asad, the Jiyalas (mostly, with exception of few honest people) are searching frantically for “Asaamiyan” from whom they can extract the “Bhatta”.
And I disagree with you on the point of PPP being most liked party. In the last elections 3 out of 4 persons opted against PPP. The fact that those 3 persons were then divided in a myriad of parties is another thing, but the bottom line is that PPP was not the choice of 75 % people.
And dear, I didn’t talk about her “CHARACTER”. I only talked about her “CONDUCT”. Yesterday, I read a very interesting comment by Zardari. He said “BB, followed the footsteps of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) by sacrificing her life”.. Interesting and sad. How can BB be related to a person of Imam Hussain’s greatness? Hazrat Imam Hussain, gave his life, but didn’t enter into DIALOGUE and DEAL with Yazeed. How BB made a deal with Yazeed (musharraf) is open to all of us. Hazrat Imam Hussain had the most convincing logic against Yazeed that Islam does not support Nepotism and there is no concept of inheriting the Throne in Islam. ON the other hand we witness BB giving the throne, the legacy and ultimately the Power to his son, who was seen drinking and dancing with his British GFs on 17th Of January, merely 20 days after his mother’s death. Can Such an insensitive person be handed the legacy of a political party. Can still BB be compared to The GREAT Hazrat Imam Hussain? No Certainly Not.
Let’s hope for better future for Pakistan. Because losing hope is losing everything.
In the next elections I’m gonna support Imran Khan for sure. And I request you, Mr. Asad and everyone reading it, Do not look like losers. Opt for a change.

Dear Shaharyar
Nice to read your article about 27th dec, may Allah forgive her mistakes and shower his blessing on her. Offcourse we were sad but not just for her but for all victims of that terrorism.
Regarding Mian Sahib and his promises, all politicians promise just to gain fame otherwise they are not doing any thing rather Mian sahib recently gave interview to a TV channel and Indians showed it to whole media that former prime minister said Amir Kasab is Pakistani and Pakistan will be a failed state. What a irresponsible statement was that from leader of opposition, while we need unity right now, just to come in news? I don’t have any hope from these politicians.
